Our achievements

The BSG has supported many initiatives for sport and leisure in Berkhamsted. The following are some of the projects and funding that have been undertaken by the BSG in past years:

  • In 1984, the relocation of Berkhamsted CC to Kitchener’s Field and the development of the Berkhamsted Football Club stadium at Broadwater.
  • Grants and loans to Berkhamsted FC.
  • Grants and loans to Berkhamsted Cricket Club.
  • In 1995, a loan to Berkhamsted Tennis & Squash Club in support of the new Indoor Tennis Centre.
  • In 2013, a grant to Berkhamsted Rugby Club to support the purchase of floodlights and equipment required to assist the newly formed club.
  • A loan to the BerkoAstro charity (a joint venture between Ashlyns School and Berkhamsted Raiders on a 3G pitch) to support the funding of a spectator stand.
  • In 2018, grants and loans to support a new fitness and conditioning suite for elite athletes at Berkhamsted Tennis & Squash Club
  •  In 2020/21 Covid support for clubs by pausing rents payments
  •  In 2022, grants and loans towards the installation of an All Weather Hockey Pitch at Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead Hockey Club.
  • In 2023 grant to Raiders Community Football Club to support a Referee Training Programme
  • In 2024 launch of the first Berkhamsted Sporting Excellence Awards
  • In 2024 launch of a Loans Scheme for non-member clubs for sports recognised by Sport England
