Spotlight on Amy Bentall!
Berkhamsted’s Star Striker and Community Champion!
In the world of local grassroots football, it is rare to find a player who dominates the score-sheet while acting as a true ambassador for the spirit of fair play. Amy Bentall, a standout performer for the Berkhamsted Football Club Ladies, has managed to do exactly that, putting together a 2024/25 season that was as statistically impressive as it is disciplined. These exceptional qualities have rightfully earned Amy the Female Sports Person of the Year in last season BSG Sporting Excellence Award. The awards was sponsored by Harrowell and Atkins.
Playing the Game the Right Way
Amy’s clinical eye for goal and remarkable consistency, Amy netted an incredible 32 goals in just 24 matches during 2024/25 season. Her ability to find the back of the net has been a driving force behind the team’s recent successes, including a hard-fought promotion and a victory in the Chris Renshaw Cup.
Despite the physical nature of the game and the high stakes of a promotion battle, Amy’s disciplinary record remains spotless. She completed the entire season without receiving a single yellow card, a true testament to her composure and sportsmanship.
Giving Back to Community
Amy’s influence extends far beyond her great work on the pitch and goal-scoring achievements. As a qualified youth referee, she is deeply committed to the development of the game at the foundational level. By referring youth matches, she provides a vital service to the local football community, inspiring young athletes and mentoring the next generation of players.
“Refereeing is really rewarding and enjoyable,” Amy shared. “It has improved my understanding of the game and has been helpful in developing other transferable skills.
A Team-First Mentality
While her individual stats led to her win of the BSG Awards, Amy remains quick to deflect praise toward her teammates and coaches. Reflecting on her win, Amy noted:
“I definitely owe my teammates and our coach a big thank you, as without their hard work and performances, I would never have been in a position to be nominated.”
Amy Bentall represents the very best of Berkhamsted FC, a lethal finisher, a disciplined competitor, and a dedicated volunteer who ensures the future of the local sport in Berkhamsted remains bright.
