It’s Time to Give Back to Those Who Give Everything

Every Great Club has a Great Volunteer!

We all know that behind every goal, match-point, and wicket at our sport clubs, there is a volunteer making it all possible. As we open nominations for this year’s Sporting Excellence Awards, we’re looking for those local heroes who go “above and beyond” to keep our clubs thriving.

Last year, the competition was incredibly tough, but one name stood out for her lifelong dedication: Tracey Mackey from Berkhamsted Law Tennis & Squash Rackets Club. 🎾

Why Tracey Won

With over 20 years of service, Tracey has worn every hat imaginable—from Committee Member and Fixture Secretary to Tournament Organizer (and even the club’s unofficial interior design guru!).

In Her Own Words, what it meant to Tracey:

“It’s always special to be recognised and appreciated… the celebrations have lasted well through the week. It’s great to be a member of such a positive community.”

Tracey’s story reminds us that while our clubs couldn’t exist without volunteers, these awards are a vital way to make sure that hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.

Do you know a “Tracey” at your club?

We want to hear about the people who give their time, energy, and passion to sports scenes in Berkhamsted. Whether they are the person marking the lines, managing the kits, or running the committee, they deserve their moment in the spotlight!

Now, it’s your turn to nominate!

Think about your club. Is there a coach, a committee member, or a parent who:

  • Has given years of service without asking for anything in return?
  • Takes on the “unseen” jobs that keep the club running?
  • Inspires the next generation of athletes?

Without these people, your clubs simply wouldn’t exist. Let’s make sure they get the “thank you” they deserve.
