Future plans

We plan to launch some significant new initiatives in 2024 to coincide with our Centenary. More later.

But these cannot address the fact  that there is a serious under provision of sports facilities in our area and for some time the Charity has been searching for a site on which a multi-sport, multi-club facility could be developed for the Community. This search is constrained by the high demands on land and the extensive areas of Green Belt, so this is not an easily achievable objective.

The change in political control has substantially changed the draft local plan and removes a number of housing proposals from the Green Belt.

However, it remains the case that a site that would provide an exceptional opportunity to transform sports provision in the area is part of the Bulbourne Cross development that was proposed by the Thakeham Group. At present, this development is not included in the Draft Local Plan and so is not an active option for the charity.

Thakeham would be prepared to gift the site to the BSGCA if their proposal was accepted at a later stage, as part of the community benefits they would plan to offer alongside a major housing development.

No further information about the next stage of the Local Plan is expected before Autumn 2024. No contractual relationship exists between BSGCA and Thakeham.
